TEALIGHT LEAVES
Wooden Tealight Candle Holder
Sophomore Year - 3 Weeks
The project that sparked my interest in pursing design.
For the final woodshop project of my Grade 10 year, our objective was to create a tealight candle-holder. Despite being a fairly simple product, I really enjoyed crafting this and bringing my idea to life. I have come a long way since this project, yet it still holds a special place in my heart.
IDEATION
For this concept, I chose to let my appreciation for nature be the core of the design. When I was pondering the idea of tealights, my mind made the association of tea-light to tea-leaves, and I ran with it.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
After landing on this particular composition, I drew up more precise blueprints to use as a template for crafting. I liked this composition because of its harmony, elegance, and creative use of natural motifs.
FINAL PRODUCT
What makes this design effective is its hidden purpose. It seems as though it is a fixed, decorative candle holder, but one can actually remove each leaf and walk around the house with a candle in hand.
